Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. Most pizzas at Pizza Hut are high in sodium and hence you must stick to one or max. two slices of any regular size pizza to limit your sodium intake. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for High Cholesterol

I've eaten here for their exploratory surgery buffet(everything and anything your mom wouldn't let you put on a pizza!). The most recent time was the best. It was a Saturday evening and it was packed. Normally the Boyfriend would rather find somewhere else than wait, but I convinced him without trouble that a busy buffet is a great thing. You pay and get a drink (Pepsi fountain, and I think they have beer too) at a counter, and then let loose. Soda refills are a quarter, but the funds are donated to a local charity. A salad bar includes Goldfish crackers and Honey graham cereal. The servers will travel throughout the dining room asking for pizza requests. Because it was so busy, we had no requests to make because all of our favorites were up. Unlike a slow night, the pizzas were coming out at a rate of 2-3 every 5 minutes. The servers then walk around and offer a slice of the new flavor. B.F.'s favorite is brat and sauerkraut. It is very good, although I pick off the brat pieces. I'm quite fond of the veggie that has broccoli and cauliflower on it. Turkey, stuffing and gravy are good, as is spaghetti, mac & cheese, Big mac (with a different name to protect you know who's trademark) taco, bbq chicken, gyro, blt...and the list goes on. The reason why it's better when busy is obvious: fresh, gooey, too hot to eat immediately pizza. The only complaint I could think of is the dessert pizza. While some flavors are really good, it seems as though more moisture (whether from fruit spread, frosting, etc. I don't know) is needed to counteract the crust, which could be a little thinner. But that just might be me. Still great food though, and it's locally owned, which is awesome. The pizzas all have clever names that I can't recall off the top of my head.

Pizza doctors will never be the epic pizza place you cannot get enough of. It's an experience you have to try once in your lifetime. It's pizza, it's a buffet, it's an insane amount of the craziest pizza available. Mac and cheese pizza, Big Mac pizza, taco pizza, coney dog pizza, pepperoni and pickle pizza, yes these pizzas truly do exist along with seafood pizza, breakfast pizza, and a slew of others it's hard to keep them straight. Had enough? Nope you haven't because it's time for s'mores pizza, peanut butter and jelly, puppy chow, banana split, peanut butter cup, skittle, that's right desert pizza. If you want you even get a salad bar, incase there's not enough pizza for you. Top it off with $7 pitchers of beer and call it a night.

Worst pizza we have ever had! We went for lunch and the pizza was so gross. Literally didn't eat one full piece. It's over an hour ago and I'm still sick from the taste of the sauce. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I wouldn't even use a free coupon to go again and I'm cheap cheap cheap.

Really cool place with pretty awesome pizza combinations. Great place for kids or a group looking for a fun experience. Only missing one star because the place is not very nice. It was clean, but looked a little dumpy to be honest. Needs some upgrades. Give it a try though- if you closed your eyes the place is great.

  • Heather K.

Food network needs to "Restaurant Impossible" this place! Slow, dated, dirty, and bad food!

    (1)
  • Brian B.

We were here in the afternoon before they start all the crazy pizza stuff so we just had the buffet. It was OK with a few types of pizza cut into small slices so you could try different kinds. The salad bar was pretty good with lots of stuff to choose from. Drink refills were not free but at .25 each, that seemed reasonable. Overall the food was OK but not thrilling. With the buffet at $7.95, its tough to complain for that low price. The kids seemed to like it. The place is kind of dumpy but hey if they have an audience that keeps coming back than good for them.

  • J M.

Holy heart attack.......an acquaintance told me about this place and although i wouldn't drive so far just for this place, the food was fresh, good quality, awesome service and for what you get, decently-priced. 4 stars due to being REALLY crowded and hard to move around, but I guess that's what you get when the food is so good! We all tried a ton of different pizzas plus had salad too. Wow is all I can say.

  • Alex N.

I don't care if this place was featured on the Food Network.. this place is pretty awful. The sorry excuse for a pizza they bring out is only good for kids. Things like cheesecake pizza are only to be consumed by people under the age of 10. While it may make the kids happy, the adults should eat before coming here. Even their normal pizzas are about on par with frozen pizza with crusts that resemble pie crusts. 2 stars for being a "tourist" (don't know if tourists come to La Crosse) trap. Come if you must, but the the place is tired and falling apart. Food Challenge: This place would be good for a food challenge. Someone must eat a slice of every pizza that comes out for an hour. If they don't pass out or get diabetes, they win.

If you want a new dining exper. stop by this place on a friday or sat starting at about 5pm. The pizza combinatioins are so tasty and unique and the small slices they give you (i dont eat the crust) make easy to try several types. The cheesburger, Big mac, Gyro, taco, chkn ranch, just everything tast super fresh. It is also a bufett, so if they come to your table and offer you a small slice you go up to the buffett for more of that type. Also endless salad bar is included with your price. Its a family place too... and often the place is packed by 7pm. But the crowd moved in and out pretty quickly. I say go for it!! IF YOU ARE IN LA CROSSE STOP HERE!!!

  • Keagan A.

So if you're a pizza snob who only likes super high quality $20 a slice pizza, you probably aren't going to like this place. It is not meant to be super high quality crusts etc, but totally awesome ingredients on top. Ramen Noodle, mac and cheese, potato- the list keeps going. The place could use some upgrades but overall I find it entertaining that they have everything labeled with medical terminology. Cost is a tad high for the exploratory surgery buffet however it's because they have to buy so many different ingredients- and it's totally worth it in my opinion. Servers bring around fresh pizzas and there's a buffet to the side as well. The only reason I see on here that people don't like this place is because they are pizza snobs who have no imagination (PB&J pizza is awesome). Go to Edwardo's if you want higher quality (but so much less fun) pizza.

A neat local venue with a great family atmosphere. The buffet is a good deal (even for dinner) with the standard salad bar options. The pizza was okay (pretty good sauce, so-so crust, lots of different toppings) and there are a lot of different varieties. I found the dessert pizza to be particularly addicting. The atmosphere was very family friendly and the staff were helpful.

  • Matt H.

Their pizza isn't really great but they make up for it with variety. Most of the time they have an all you can eat buffet and will take requests off their menu. It does take them a long time to replenish the pizzas if they are busy so I usually go with friends and converse while waiting for pizzas to come up.

    (4)
  • Kristin D.

This place grossed me out. . . It was not clean, though it was busy, so maybe normally it is. The pizza combinations were ridiculous - though I know that is what they are known for. I am sure kids would think it was awesome. You couldn't pay me to go back.

Oh yes, pizza doctors!! This was a favorite in college. Exploratory surgery is the best night to come, where they have all these wierd pizzas. I remember bratwurst and sauerkraut, peanut butter and jelly, and the seafood one, which was really good. They bring the pizzas around to you, until you're stuffed. They also have more traditional pizzas on the buffet that you can help yourself to. It's cheap, the crust is kind of wierd, but that's not what you're wanting to eat anyway. Take a bite or two of the pizza you're sampling, and leave the crust behind. They have a salad bar too, with amazing chocolate pudding. You know the kind. The industrial big can of chocolate pudding stuff. Seven bucks. (maybe a little more now...)What a deal!

  • Corrie G.

When I think of pizza doctors my stomach starts to hurt.. THERE IS A REASON YOUR PARENTS WOULD NOT LET YOU PUT WHATEVER YOU WANTED ON YOUR PIZZA AS A KID!!!!!!!! Peanut butter and jelly pizza? really? The seafood pizza is that prepacked fake crab... gross. The only pizza I found edible was the cheeseburger one (kinda a take on the big mac).. Bottom line- don't waste your money!

  • Beth M.

I enjoyed the food here very much. Saw it on the Food Network and I love pizza, so I had to try it. I liked the Gyro pizza and the Big Mac pizza a lot. Dessert pizzas were yummy also. I thought the prices were very reasonable. The place could definitely use an update though for sure! Things were kind of run down and had just a kind of boring atmosphere. It wouldn't be too hard to make this a very fun place!

  • Greg W.

Heard all the hype, and always wanted to try the exploratory surgery. Was a little disappointed, expected more types of pizza to be at the buffet area, Didn't start getting some of the ones I would have liked to try until I was full on the regular types of pizza. Pizza it self was average at best. My favorite was the Gyro pizza. Stay away from the Skittles pizza, yuck! Will not be back.

Staff was awesome!!!! Definitely worth the trip! Izzy and Nichole were great and I will definitely be letting others know how GREAT an experience we had tonight! Thank you so much! And.. The dessert pizzas were really awesome! Your cooks did a great job!

I came in at the start of a lunch buffet. 2 pizzas were out. One was half cheese, half olive. One was half sausage, half veggie. I was not impressed with the choices. The quality was meh. The dessert pizza options seem fun, but I left underwhelmed.

What do Macaroni and Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Bratwurst and Sauerkraut, Garlic and Pasta, Cookies and Cream, Turkey and Stuffing, and Peanut Butter and Chocolate all have in common? They're all specific Pizza Doctor pizzas, each with a cute name (and in some cases, cute doctor illustration!) on their menu. That being said, Pizza Doctors is a "must visit" place when going through the La Crosse area. Is it the "best pizza ever?" Probably not. (That's not to say that the Pizza is bad by any means, though.) It is hands down one of the most notable and original pizza places ever, though. Not in "depth" so much as in "width." If you're a foodie or a food tourist, this place CAN'T be missed--it's easily one of the best places for this kind of thing in the United States. I've been going to Pizza Doctors whenever I go to La Crosse to visit my family. (This dates back to the late 80's.) Pizza Doctor's exploratory buffet has really become a family tradition in my family--we go as a family every time we visit the area. Everything is doctor themed at Pizza Doctors. (Straws = suction, exploratory surgery = weird pizza buffet, each notable pizza named after doctors, etc.) The draw to Pizza Doctors is that it is like a Cici's Pizza, but better in quality, local in scope (this is no chain), and has some VERY unusual pizza varieties that they offer. Some of these unusual topping combinations are better than others. I think I can best do Yelp a service here by talking about some of the particulars, and distinguishing the "must tries" from the "take it or leave it"s. We'll start with "main course" pizzas and work our way to desserts: Main Course Pizzas: -Dr. Cortez (Taco Pizza) - AWESOME taco pizza. Don't miss this one. -Freudian Slip (Brautwurst and Sauerkraut pizza) - Very good. It works better than you'd think. -Doctor Mac (Big Mac Pizza) - AWESOME pizza. Don't miss this one either. -Doctor Potato Head - The original baked potato pizza. (I've seen it copied by Mellow Mushroom and the Moose's Tooth up in Anchorage as well.) This is very good, and worth a trial. -The Cardiac Arrest (Beef, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and jalapeno peppers) - This is probably one of the best pizzas here. If you went not during exploratory and just wanted to get a pizza that wasn't too crazy, and you like spicy stuff, get this one. You won't be disappointed. -Breakfast Pizza - This comes with eggs, bacon, cheese, syrup, and pancakes on it. (I'm not sure what they call it.) This is fairly impressive as well and worth a try. -Dr. Doogie Houser (Macaroni and Cheese Pizza) - AWESOME for mac and cheese lovers. Definitely worth a try, and shouldn't be missed. -Garlic Noodle Pizza (I don't think they have a clever name for it) - Okay, but not my favorite. -Doctor Foghorn-Leghorn (BBQ Chicken Pizza) - Very good but more commonplace in standard Pizza places today. Dessert Pizzas: -The Doctor Seuss (Peanut Butter Jelly Pizza) - Another of my favorites. Shouldn't be missed. -The Doctor Double Stuff (Marshmellow and Oreo Pizza) - Kind of a "Cookies and Cream" Pizza. This one's pretty good. -The Doctor Decay (Marshmellow and Skittles) - I'd probably skip this one unless you really like sugar / Skittles. -The Doctor Hardy (Turtle Pizza - Carmel / Chocolate Chips / Nuts / etc) - This one's really good. -Puppy Chow Pizza (Chocolate and Powdered Sugar Chex Mix) - This one's good, and looks awesome, but I wouldn't classify it as a "don't miss." -The Samoa (Caramel sauce, chocolate chips, nuts and coconut.) - Also quite good but I wouldn't say "don't miss." -Strawberry Cheesecake Dessert Pizza - Good, but very rich. Of course, they offer standard Pizzas that you could get at a Pizza Hut very easily (Cheese and Pepperoni, Cheese and Sausage, etc.) These are okay, but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't recommend coming here for something basic. If you're going to go, go all out. They do have a play room for the kiddos. The buffet comes with a salad bar, but I'd save my space for the Pizzas, unless you're there as a local. And yes, of course, this place is really good for kids. If you do go during exploratory, you CAN make requests. Want to try the Dr. Cortez, and it's not available? Then ask for it! (If there's a bunch of people there, it is more likely that they'll make it.) As for pricing, Exploratory costs like $12 per person and I believe that it includes drink. Pizzas are cut into 16ths and slices are small, so you can sample a ton of stuff without much waste. Conclusion: This is an old, classic gem of the La Crosse area. In this foodie's mind, it's a "food legend." Of course, it's been on multiple TV networks as a result of this (Travel, Food Network, etc.) It is definitely worth a stop, and even a detour.

I love pizza doctors I've been coming to this place since I was a kid and I would play in the little corner playroom they have and play the arcade games. I love exploratory surgery when they have all different kinds of pizzas like marshmallow-skittle pizza (which is actually really good), turkey dinner pizza, Big Mac pizza... Etc.

Was definitely an interesting experience! We came for the dinner buffet, which at $11 per person - including a drink and salad bar, was a good deal. We were delighted when friendly servers brought out pizza after pizza (both sweet and savory) - about one per minute at one point, which could've been because there was a very large party there too (after they left, things slowed down). There were so many different varieties of pizza, from the interesting - mac & cheese pizza - so they entirely bizarre - pudding and gummy bear pizza. The sheer creativity and whimsical nature of this place delighted us. However, don't go expecting gourmet pizza: as examples, we found that the crust on the dessert pizzas was too thick and dry, and some of the topping combinations were ill-advised Still, definitely worth a trip to check out this one of a kind restaurant.
